Born in Tokyo, Japan, Mieko Takahashi moved to the US in 1992 to pursue a career in accounting. For ten years working as a CPA, Mieko made jewelry as a hobby. In 2006, she began creating jewelry full time, launching Shizen Designs. Currently Mieko sells her jewelry to over 20 stores along the West Coast. Mieko and her husband David moved to Bellingham from Boston in 2004 for David’s job to teach at WWU.Mieko is a PMC Connection Level 3 certified artisan and holds the Rio Grande PMC Teacher Certificate.
